Overview
One of the most beautiful cities on New Zealand's South Island, Queenstown offers year-round adventure to both budget-conscious and luxury travellers. Ideal place for adrenaline junkies, the city boasts uncountable opportunities for outdoor sports like hiking, biking, horseback riding and golfing, along with white-water rafting and bungee jumping, to really get it out of your system.
As you sign-off from adventures for the day, you return home and pour a drink to watch the picturesque scenery of Lake Wakatipu, hosting mountain reflections and stars all the day and night. If you are not a home person, head towards local brews at any of the 50+ bars in the city to have drinks, as Queenstown is famous for its exciting night life. No worries though - if you are seeking tranquillity and peace, there are hundreds of laid-back neighbourhoods to discover for yourself as well.

Climate
Due to its comparatively moderate altitude but high surroundings of mountains, Queenstown has an Alpine (oceanic) climate. Summers from December to February has the temperature ranging from 50 to 72 degrees F whereas Winters from June to August is cold with temperatures often in single digits in Celsius i.e. 32 to 46 degrees F.

Queenstown Attractions and Activities
1. World-Class Skiing
Skiing is perhaps the most-practised sport for which Queenstown is famous. The first commercial ski resort of the city was hosted in 1947 and currently, you can choose from any of the four ski slopes that are accessible by cars.

2. Lake Cruises
Fashioned like a typical cartoon lightning bolt, Lake Wakatipu is the third-largest lake in New Zealand. This divine beauty has five river flows in it, instead of only the Kawarau that flows out. Cruises to this lake are relaxing and enjoyable at the same time.

3. Extreme Sports
Queenstown is a haven for all adrenaline lovers. Surely, you will be breathless by the end day of your awesome trip as you might be done with parapenting, para-sailing, skydiving, white-water rafting, zip lining, jet boating and bungee jumping.

4. Gibbston Valley
Established in the 1980s, Gibbston Valley is the oldest commercial winery in NZ. This place offers personal winery tours costing around $35 and the tour of the largest wine cave in NZ in about $17.50.

4. Vibrant Night life
For a city that plays really hard whole day, surprisingly, there are numerous night life options categorized depending on varied adventures. There are around 50 properties including smooth-as-velvet wine bars, a pair of frigid ice bars, character-filled pubs, and a couple of high-quality craft-beer bars.
