Distance to the City Centre

The Havana City Centre is about 30-40 minutes away from the José Martí International Airport which can be travelled via taxi in just 25 CUC. The official Havana taxis run with a taxi-meter which is accurate and you are required to pay the fare as displayed on this metre once your trip ends.

Transport from Havana

Mostly all international flights come down to the Jose Martí International Airport (HAV) located around 9 miles or 14.5 km southwest of Havana. The hotel you booked must have a shuttle service available to pick you up from the airport but there are other ways as well to reach Havana. A taxi can be at your service in just CUC$20 and take you to Havana in around 20-30 minutes. If you head towards Terminal 1, you can catch a bus that would cost you between CUC$18 to CUC$25.

Visa Requirements for Havana

All nationals including British, USA, Australian, Canadian and other EU require a visa to enter Cuba. The tourist card (tourist visa) is valid for just a single entry and authorizes the holder to stay in Cuba for 30 days. You are needed to provide the proof of booked accommodation and confirmed return flight.

Tips for your stay in Havana

Although you do not require a visa for Cuba, you need a tourist card which can be collected from your travel agent. Make sure you keep it along with your passport as while leaving the city, you will have to show your tourist card.
It is recommended to bring cash instead of American dollars and US credit cards as until the embargo ends, they are not entertained in Cuba.
You are allowed to bring home goods of worth $400, comprising almost $100 of rum or cigars.
Cuba doesn’t have good Wi-Fi connectivity so plan your trip to Cuba accordingly. Some premium hotels and resorts provide intermittent Wi-Fi service which costs around $10 CUC per day.
